Why drying time is the real quality signal

Properly extracted carpet is dry in four to eight hours. Still damp the next morning means it was over-wet and under-extracted, and in this humidity that is a genuine mould risk. Ask about dry time before you book, not after.

Pet odour has to be treated at the pad

Urine soaks through the carpet into the pad and sometimes the subfloor. Surface deodoriser masks it for about a week. Only an enzyme treatment applied to the contaminated layer actually removes it.

Stains and soiling are different problems

General soiling is traffic grit ground into the fibre, and extraction handles it. A stain is bonded discolouration needing a spotter matched to its cause — protein, tannin, dye and oil each respond to different chemistry, and the wrong one sets it permanently.

Wool rugs and upholstery need different handling

A good wool rug or sofa is often worth more than the carpet in the room, and both are far more sensitive to heat, moisture and pH. Natural-fibre rugs frequently need off-site immersion cleaning rather than in-home extraction.
